While many across the nation were reeling over the police shooting death of a 37-year-old family man, Alton Sterling, in Baton Rouge Louisiana, no one had to wait long to hear a similar tale again. This time a traffic stop in a Minneapolis suburb turned deadly when a police officer stopped a black motorist for a busted tail light on Wednesday. Thirty-two-year-old Philando Castile was in a car with his girlfriend and her daughter during that police stop. Castile’s girlfriend says police asked Castile for his license and registration and he informed officers he had a firearm and a conceal-and-carry permit. She says when he reached for his license, the officer shot Castile four times. She used Facebook live to record the aftermath of this deadly incident. Minnesota authorities are investigating and protesters are not taking this lightly. Hundreds of protesters gathered in the overnight hours outside of the Minnesota governor’s residence in St. Paul. Castile was a school employee.
