Some David Bowie fans are up in arms about a rumor that Kanye West is recording a Bowie tribute album. Over 20-thousand fans of the late singer have signed a petition launched in the U.K. called, “Stop Kanye West recording covers of David Bowie’s music.” Kanye hasn’t even announced plans for such a project. The rumor may have been sparked by an article in “The Daily Star” claiming that West was in the studio recording his versions of Bowie classics like “Rebel Rebel” and “Heroes.” The tabloid also claims that West believes that ”the torch” of musical innovation has been passed on from Bowie to him. This claim made some Bowie fans upset, with some accusing the rapper of cashing in on the death of a musical legend.
