Babacar Gaye, UN Aid Worker For Central African Republic Steps Down For Sex Abuse Allegations
U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has announced to reporters that a top peacekeeper for the Central African Republic has been terminated for rampant sexual abuse and molestation charges under his administration. Babacar Gaye stepped down from his position per Ki-moon’s request once Amnesty International made it known to the public that a 12-year-old girl was raped in the capital of Bangui by one of Gaye’s subordinates. This incident is one of a whopping 11 allegations of “possible sex abuse” by UN aids in the region since their station was established in April 2014. Read more at CNN.
