It’s National Youth HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Did you know that today’s young people are the first generation that has never known a world without HIV and AIDS? It’s true. According to the CDC, across this country, 26 percent of new HIV infections are young people ages 13 to 24. Young people and their allies are determined to end this pandemic, a vow by many that can be seen here in Indy. A team of young people this week from the AIDS United AmeriCorps program hosted by the Indiana AIDS Fund and the Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis headed to Southeastern Indiana to do counseling, testing and provide support to help curb and deter the spread of the rising HIV outbreak crisis in Scott County.
