The KKK seizes a marking opportunity while frat boys go viral in racial and historical dumb timing.

Here’s some news you can use on this Monday…

While Indy and the rest of the country commemorated the 50th anniversary of an event in the struggle for voting rights for Blacks in the United States–known as “Bloody Sunday”–at both Alabama’s Edmund Pettus Bridge and here on a march from Light of the World Christian Church to Indiana’s statehouse over the weekend, the Ku Klux Klan was busy preaching a message of divisiveness.

Thousands of Selma residents woke up in Alabama on Saturday to find KKK fliers left at their homes. In an interview with AL.com, the Klan’s grand dragon, Robert Jones, confirmed they distributed about 4,000 fliers that insulted civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Junior and railed against immigration. The KKK is a domestic terrorist organization and Edmund Pettus was a U.S. Senator who was a leader of the Alabama KKK, serving as its Grand Dragon. The commemoration activities continue this Monday morning in Selma. Another march is taking place where participants will march from Selma to Montgomery.

Meanwhile…

A fraternity at the University of Oklahoma is being shut down because of a racist video making the rounds on social media. The school’s president, David Boren, on Sunday called the behavior shown in the video “reprehensible and contrary to all of our values.” That video in question appears to show members of the OU chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon using racial slurs to sing a song about how there will never be an African American in the fraternity. (The shocking video is linked above.) The national president of SAE, Brad Cohen, also released a statement, in it he said, “I was not only shocked and disappointed but disgusted by the outright display of racism displayed in the video.” The national office of the frat responded swiftly on Sunday and has closed the OU chapter, noting that they have a zero tolerance policy for racism or bad behavior.
