Philip Seymour Hoffman

(RNN) – Academy Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his apartment Sunday. He was 46.

Hoffman had roles in Patch Adams, Twister, Moneyball, Almost Famous and The Big Lebowski, but it was his role as writer Truman Capote in the biopic Capote that earned him his Oscar. He is also involved in the Hunger Games movie franchise, which is still filming.

Hoffman died of a suspected drug overdose. CNN reported Hoffman was found with a needle in his arm and heroin was found in the apartment. His body was discovered Sunday shortly before noon Eastern, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hoffman had struggled with drug addiction in previous years, including a stint in rehab in 2013.
