Indiana Connections to the 2014 Grammy’s

While the French duo Daft Punk walked away as the winners of the night’s two biggest trophies at this year’s Grammy Awards–Record of the Year and Album of the Year, we couldn’t help but notice there were Hoosier ties to the ceremonies. As Best New Artist winners, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, performed their hit “Same Love,”  dozens of gay and straight couples stood in the aisles for a wedding ceremony officiated by Queen Latifah. Among them was an Indiana couple,  Caroline and Sharon, who have been in a relationship for two decades. These Hoosiers who live in the Fishers area, got married in front of  29 million people who viewed music’s biggest night, despite the same-sex marriage debate raging in the Indiana statehouse. See more on Caroline and Sharon [HERE].

A Broad Ripple recording studio definitely was a vested party to Sunday night’s Grammy’s. The Pop Machine Studios had ‘skin in the game’ with our own TV ONE R&B Diva, Chrisette Michele. Michele who was a nominee in the Best R&B Album category, recorded a part of her album “Better” right here in Indy. Alicia Keyes won the category with her album “Girl on Fire” but Hoosiers are still very cool with the hometown connection to the awards.
