- 1995: Queen Elizabeth officially asked Prince Charles and Princess Diana to divorce
- 1996: The Oakland, C.A. school board recognized Black English AKA Ebonics. It sparked lots of controversy which ended in the board reversing its ruling.
- 2012: “TIME” magazine dubbed President Barack Obama its coveted Person of the Year
