Deadly Train Derailment Investigation Underway in the Big Apple

The National Transportation Safety Board is digging into why a commuter train derailed in New York City on Sunday morning. Four people were killed and more than 60 were injured after the train careened off its tracks  en route from Poughkeepsie to New York City.  The train left its’ tracks near the banks of the Harlem River in the Bronx.

Improved Healthcare.Gov Website Will Be Put To The Test

A surge in visitors to the Obama administration’s improved healthcare website will give it a workout over the next few weeks and months.  Throngs of people who ran into problems trying to enroll in a health insurance plan because of the site’s technical glitches will be going back online to get coverage post-fix. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says in an opinion piece in “USA Today,” there will still be issues with the site from time-to-time, and advises morning, evening and weekend use to help avoid some of those problems.

Another Suspect in Violent Indy Northside Home Break-in’s Nabbed

IMPD says Adrian Anthony was arrested late Saturday night, several weeks after police started looking specifically for him. Anthony is one of eleven people facing charges for the attacks on Spring Mill Road and 79th Street back in October where three people were robbed including a mother and daughter who were both sexually assaulted.

Northeast Side Homicide Investigation Underway

IMPD is investigating a man found dead in an alley on the city’s northeast side. Police say the

body was found Synday night behind the homes in the 1700-block of Bellfountaine. The man had been shot.  The victim appears to be in his 40’s but no other details have been released.

Storage Units Target For Thieves

The renters of 20 storage units are shocked to learn they’ve been victimized by thieves. Brownsburg police responded to the scene Sunday where surveillance cameras caught two men cutting a hole in the fence. More than ten-thousand dollars worth of property was taken at the Self-Storage Locker on Main Street.

Johnson County Prayer Vigil for Fire Victims

Dozens of people attended a prayer vigil Sunday night for the survivors from the Nineveh family who

were killed recently in a house fire.  The mom, Sirena Slusher-Abbott died of her injuries days after her toddler daughter and infant son who were killed in the blaze.  Abbott’s five-year-old daughter made it out of the burning house, and her husband, who was at work when the fire started were

survivors.  The victims will be buried this weekend.

Halted Cookie Sales At Circle Of Lights

An official Grinch put the brakes on a special tradition for kids at this year’s Circle of Lights. Cookie sales that help pay for the Christ Church Cathedral youth group’s trips during the year were halted in a sweep during the well-attended celebration. Authorities say the church youth group violated a zoning code by not having a permit. All is not lost the youth group that has historically sold cookies at this event will receive an apology and a check from Indianapolis Downtown Inc. to make up for their lost revenues.

Colts beat Titans

The Colts are celebrating their 22-14 victory over the Tennessee Titans.  Adam Vinatieri tied a career high with five field goals, including four in the first half Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Colts play the Bengals on Sunday in Cincinnati.

Pacers Victorious in First Game of Western Roadtrip

The Indiana Pacers’ winning streak continues.  They beat the Los Angeles Clippers Sunday 105-to-100 for their seventh-straight victory.  Yes that Blue and Gold swagger swells to a 16-and-1 record for the season.  This is their best start in franchise history.
