Wine & Dine Wednesday event poster with "The Black Out Edition" text, hosted by Karen Vaughn with music by DJ King on July 15, 2026 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at 475 Pennsylvania Street, Indianapolis.

On Friday, Nov 8, Eugene Lang College The New School For Liberal Arts hosted a riveting conversation between Scholar-in-Residence, acclaimed feminist, scholar and activist bell hooks (pictured left), and Melissa Harris-Perry (pictured right), founding director of the Anna Julia Cooper Project on Gender, Race, and Politics in the South, Professor of Political Science at Tulane University, author, and host of MSNBC’s  Melissa Harris-Perry.

The focus of the engaging dialogue was race, black womanhood, politics, media, and love.

Black feminists across social media were heavily engaged in the conversation, which streamed live for an hour and a half, as hooks and Harris-Perry created a safe space in an internet that often leaves Black woman vulnerable to attack.
