Criminals Target Affluent Areas

Criminals who once targeted the inner city are now operating in more affluent areas of Indianapolis.  The report comes from Reverend Charles Harrison with the Ten Point Coalition.  He believes the change is due to increased crack downs on inner city attacks.  Neighbors are being warned to keep their doors locked and call 911 if suspicious activity is seen.

Another Home Invasion Tuesday Morning

Harrison may be right…just in this morning comes word that Four people have been found tied up after they were robbed by three armed suspects in an apartment on the city’s northwestside—this according to media reports. Police say the victims were pistol whipped by the men in the 81-hundred block of Century Drive near Harcourt but the injuries are minor. None of the victims were able to provide good descriptions of the suspects because they were wearing masks. No active search is underway

Juror Kicked Out of Courtroom in Bisard Trial

A juror was kicked off the trial of former Indianapolis police officer David Bisard Monday after he admitted to Googling about the case last week.  The juror told the judge he had looked up whether it was possible to beat a blood alcohol test.  The defense attorney representing Bisard immediately demanded a mistrial. The judge said no, after interviewing the remaining jurors and deciding that they had not been swayed by the actions of that dismissed juror. Bisard is facing drunk driving and wreckless homicide charges after he crashed his squad car into a group of motorcyclists, killing one, in 2010.

Indy City Council to Investigate Lease of City Building

The Indianapolis City Council yesterday began planning its special investigation into the lease of a city building that was closed two months ago for safety violations.  The city’s Regional Operations Center cost 18-million dollars to renovate and was opened in 2011 to provide an area for safety coordination during big events and/or weather emergencies.  It was closed in September after city officials found it had several fire safety violations.
