Here’s one that you might hear us get in the mix on the weekends. We try to get in the crates to find the joints that make you move and groove for Friday night’s ‘Club 106.7’ and ‘The Saturday Night Basement Party’.

‘Ain’t Nothin’ Goin’ on But The Rent” was a bit controversial when the late Gwen Guthrie released it as a single in 1986. The song was controversial in that the woman in the song can be viewed as shallow and a “gold digger”, since she will only love a man if he’s rich and he has a job. Obviously, times have changed and these sentiments are no longer controversial nor shocking, but at the time, a few people were up in arms about the way the character in the song was portraying herself.

…and if you ask me…there is absolutely nothing wrong with expecting a brother to have a job.

Check out the classic video here…and make sure to move the furniture outta the way every Friday and Saturday night for our mix shows. We bring the party to your radio with ‘Club 106.7’ on Friday night from 9 to midnight and ‘The Saturday Night Basement Party’ from 8 to 11, EVERY WEEK.
