Who would have thought before “Braxton Family Values” aired that Tamar Braxton would turn out to be the most intriguing Braxton sister? Although Toni is the most famous of the group and has gone through her share of dramas including a bankruptcy, a heart condition, an autistic son, a separation and now lupus, it’s clearly her younger sister, Tamar, that gets all the attention these days.
Tamar’s desperation for stardom is her biggest challenge, and although her husband is producer Vincent Herbert, the man behind Lady Gaga, Tamar has not quite realized her dream. And she gets her share of criticism for her treatment of her wealthy but overweight husband, her weaves, her purported plastic surgery and her diva attitude without a solid career success thus far. Any reasonable assessment of her recent performance during the Soul Train Awards tribute to Gladys Knight would conclude that the baby Braxton’s singing career is still a work in progress.
