Music stars Bell Biv Devoe and radio personality Tom Joyner head down to Orlando this week to join Star 94.5 and their “Old School Block Party,” which is back this year. The free event will happen on Saturday, June 11, at 4 p.m., in front of Orlando’s City Hall and will include food, drinks and more, along with the concert from BBD.
If you can remember the dangers of a big butt and a smile, then you know what to expect from BBD, the trio that spun off from New Edition and had their own slew of hits. Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe will all be there to perform “Poison,” as well as the rest of their popular cuts – and probably a little of the New Edition ones as well.
Local talent won’t be excluded, either. One listener or group will have the chance to become “Orlando’s Next Big Star” and will open for BBD.
You can vote for your favorite here until Thursday, June 9.
Joyner is hosting the “Old School Block Party” and will be on hand throughout the day to greet fans.
If you’re interested in seeing BBD and can’t make it to Orlando this weekend, you can also see them later this summer at the Indiana Black Expo, Indiana’s long-running annual event for the black community. The old school concert, also featuring Biz Markie, MC Lyte and the Force MDs, takes place at the Canseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Sunday, July 17th at 7 p.m. You can buy tickets for it here.
BBD’s Canadian fans can see them this winter at the River Rock Casino Resort on Friday, November 18th at 8 p.m. You can buy tickets for that here.
