INDIANAPOLIS — You may have heard of the downtown Indianapolis mass shootings over the weekend.

IMPD Chief Chris Bailey spoke with 93.1 WIBC hosts Hammer and Nigel on Monday about the shooting and a curfew being applied to try and stop violence in Indianapolis.

“We have to have accountability,” Bailey says. “We also have to have a posture from the law enforcement perspective where we are welcoming. We want people to be downtown, regardless of age if they can behave themselves.”

Bailey says if someone crosses that line, officers will enforce the law.

He believes it will be difficult to hold parents responsible for violent actions committed by their children.

Bailey says he still does not have the words to describe the shooting from early Saturday.

“I’m even more committed than the officers are committed to go out there and do what we can to keep it from happening again,” he says.
