SOUTH BEND, Ind.–You may have heard or read that Kroger plans to close 60 stores across the entire area where the Cincinnati-based company operates. At least two stores in Indiana are on the list of closures.

According to a list published by USA Today, the Kroger on Western Ave. in South Bend will close.

The Kroger on Johnson St. in Elkhart was also on the list.

No other stores in Indiana were included. But, it should be noted that the list was not a complete list published by Kroger itself and if that comes out more stores might be included. A spokesperson from Kroher said the company did not plan to public a comprehensive list, though.

The list was compiled by the newspaper from local media sources, which have been informed about the closures.

The company said the stores that are closing are “unprofitable”. They represent about two percent of the more than 2,000 stores operated by Kroger.

Kroger has 103 stores in Indiana.
