Janet Jackson Waiting on Her Own Biopic: Michael ‘Comes First’
Janet Jackson has been approached with offers to tell her story in a musical biopic or TV documentary but is waiting for the Michael Jackson biopic to complete its run out of respect for her family. The upcoming film, “Michael,” directed by Antoine Fuqua, which explores the life and tragic end of the King of Pop. It’s being made with the full permission of his estate and is understood to be a sweeping portrait of his life, detailing events “from his childhood of being the star of the Jackson 5, through times of abuse by his father Joe Jackson, to his hit ‘Thriller,’ and the purchase of Neverland Valley, into his tragic and unsuspected death on June 25, 2009,” according to the movie’s synopsis. Janet’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, stars in the film, and the Jackson family is working together to ensure its success. Janet plans to share her own story eventually but is currently focused on supporting the Michael Jackson biopic.
