Aretha Franklin is receiving up a posthumous honor from the 2019 Detroit Music Awards. Her compilation album, The Atlantic Singles Collection 1967 to 1970, won outstanding anthology or reissue at the awards show on Friday. There was also a gospel salute to Franklin, along with a 60th anniversary tribute to Motown. Also on this date in 1967(April 29), Aretha Franklin’s version of “Respect” was released.
