Lin-Manuel Miranda returned to the role of Alexander Hamilton as Hamilton opened a three-week run in Puerto Rico Friday night. It took a year of preparation for the actor to bring his Tony-winning phenomenon to San Juan. He did so to raise money for Puerto Rico which was hit hard by Hurricane Maria in 2017. Fans of the show flew in from all over the U.S. to see Miranda reprise his role.  During Friday night’s performance Miranda surprised the audience at the end of the show by draping himself in a Puerto Rican flag, and then bringing his dad Luis, who’s running the production, onstage for a bow. The 38-year-old Miranda  is stepping back into the Alexander Hamilton for the first time in two and a half years for the 23 performances in San Juan.
