Former Indianapolis Colts running back Zurlon Tipton is dead after accidentally shooting himself. It happened at a car dealership in Roseville, Michigan Tuesday morning. Police say Tipton was putting his personal belongings in a bag that had two handguns inside and one went off, hitting him in the stomach. Tipton was dropping his Jeep off at the dealership to be serviced. The 26-year-old played in 16 games for the Colts over the last two seasons. He was released by the team in December.

A Jasper County couple accused of neglecting their 12-year-old child is facing charges. Officials say the boy was removed from his home in 2014 after being found “extremely emaciated.” Jasper County Sheriff Terry Risner says the child only weighed 23-pounds at the time, but is “alive and thriving” now. Risner says it took two years for charges to be filed because prosecutors needed “additional information.”

A 13-year-old is expected to be okay after a shooting on the city’s northwest side. Indianapolis Metro Police officers were called to the Lakeside Manor Housing addition Tuesday evening. The victim was rushed to the hospital in serious but stable condition. Police are investigating the situation as a possible aggravated assault.

An investigation is underway at an apartment on Indianapolis’ northwest side after a young woman was found dead. The 20-year-old victim was found unresponsive Tuesday afternoon in the 6300 block of Mission Terrace. Police believe she was shot, but they have not confirmed that. They’re following up on leads in the case.

Two Indianapolis Public Schools employees accused of failing to immediately report a possible sex scandal are resigning. Shalon Dabney and Tina Hester will step down officially on June 30. The two women were charged earlier this year for failing to notify authorities after learning that former school counselor Shana Taylor may have had sex with a 17-year-old student at Longfellow Alternative School. They entered a pre-trial diversion program to avoid prosecution. Taylor’s trial begins after the holiday, on July 5.

A noted Black Lives Matter activist now has a high profile job. He’s DeRay Mckesson, and he may be someone you follow on social media regularly. Mckesson has been named interim chief human capital officer for the Baltimore school districts. Officials say he was chosen for the position based on his prior experience as a reforms strategist. McKesson ran for mayor of the city in the wake of the shooting death of Michael Brown, but failed to make it into the top five.

Legendary Tennessee women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt will be remembered in a public memorial service. The winningest coach in college basketball history died yesterday at the age of 64.  She had been battling Alzheimer’s disease since 2011. A “Celebration of Life” will be held for the former #LadyVols leader at Thompson-Boling Arena on the University of Tennessee’s campus on July 14.

The Indiana Fever are on the road this afternoon for a matchup with the Chicago Sky. It’s the second of three meetings between the two teams this season. Indiana suffered a nine-point home loss to the Sky earlier in the year. The Fever sit at 6-and-9 overall, good for second-to-last in the Eastern Conference. Fever star Tamika Catchings is a former Pat Summitt #LadyVols player. Many eyes will be on her as Catchings continues play through the grief of losing someone she says she considered to be so instrumental in her life. Tipoff is set for 12:30 p.m.
