Word is Lauryn Hill was a no-show during the Grammy Awards Monday night.

Lauryn Hill, who unfortunately has the reputation of being extremely late for her shows or not coming at all, added fuel to the rumors when she did not perform on the live show last night.

Interestingly enough, her band actually posted a photo of them practicing with The Weeknd, who she was supposed to hit he stage with in a highly anticipated collaboration. But when things fell through, Hill’s rep offered up a statement as to why.

“The Grammy’s announced a performance by Ms. Lauryn Hill prematurely and without approval,” said Hill’s rep. “Ms. Hill had concerts all weekend, leaving no time to prepare, and was uncertain she would even be able to make it to L.A. in time to rehearse for the event…Any performance that could have happened was never confirmed, and should not have been advertised as such,” added the rep. “Ms. Hill was invited to do a collaboration with an artist she appreciates. The performance was intended to be a surprise and unfortunately due to its last minute nature, was unable to come to fruition.”

But what doesn’t make sense is that according to TheYBF, Hill was actually at the rehearsal inside the Staples Center earlier that morning. She simply left the venue and didn’t return in time.

And the Recording Academy President Neil Portnow has told a different side of the story and even called Hill’s rep for allegedly lying about it all.

“It’s a disappointment to us and a disappointment to her. Our intention was, and we were ready, right up to the moment of the performance, for her to step up on stage. None of that statement is accurate. She was there for [rehearsal], completed it and left the building. And then she did not get back in time to make the show. I’m sorry, that’s the bottom line. That’s the truth. That’s unfortunate. I guess those things happen.”

Meanwhile, check out the performance that The Weeknd did do below.
