Sources say Magic Johnson is “absolutely interested” in purchasing the Los Angeles Clippers from Donald Sterling.  Rev. Al Sharpton is also calling for Sterling’s removal from an ownership position in the Clippers and wants Commissioner Adam Silver to apply some sort of punishment against the owner who is alleged to have made racist remarks in an audio recording obtained by TMZ.

Johnson is the individual singled out in the recording, and is apparently willing to spend the money to take the Clippers off of Sterling’s hands. At this point, there is no indication that Sterling wants to sell the Clippers.

In March of 2012, Magic became part owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers after he and the his financial partners bid $2 billion for the team.  Johnson’s partners manages over $125 billion, so finding the money to purchase the Clippers should not be an issue.

Earlier this year, the group, along with Johnson, also purchased the WNBA’s LA Sparks.

What do you think, If Magic is the perfect face for the Los Angeles Dodgers, then he may also be the perfect person to preside over the Clippers if Donald Sterling is willing to sell his franchise.
