DALLAS – A Dallas-area man has been convicted of killing his children’s baby sitter to silence her in a pending rape case against him.
Franklin Davis was found guilty of capital murder on Tuesday in the death of 16-year-old Shania Gray. The jury will now decide whether to sentence him to death.
Davis admitted to luring Gray into his car outside her school last year, shooting her and dumping her body in a river. He says he killed her because “her lies ruined my life,” not because she may have testified against him after accusing him of sexual assault.
Grey was remembered after her death as a friendly girl by friends and relatives, many of whom did not know about the rape case until after her death.
