Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees has been suspended for 211 games amid allegations of using performance-enhancing drugs, effectively through the end of the 2014 season. He will be able to play while he appeals the suspension.

Rodriguez is accused of having ties to Biogenesis, an anti-aging clinic in south Florida linked with over a dozen MLB players and their use of performance-enhancing drugs.

Rodriguez holds the largest contract ever signed in American sports, signing with the Yankees in 2007 for over a quarter of a billion dollars. He is considered one of the greatest sluggers the game has ever seen with 647 career home runs in 19 seasons.
