I had the honor of sitting down with Kristian Stricklen, President of the iconic Madam Walker Legacy Center, to talk about this year’s Legacy Fest—and let me tell you, it’s going to be a celebration like no other.
This year, Legacy Fest brings legends The Isley Brothers to town for a concert that promises to move your spirit and get you two-stepping in your seat. Mark your calendar for Friday, June 20th—because we are kicking things off with music that spans generations and memories that will last a lifetime.
But it doesn’t stop there. The celebration continues with the Legacy Block Party on Saturday, June 21st. We’re shutting down Indiana Avenue and turning up the culture, creativity, and community! Food, vendors, live performances, and so much more—all in honor of the legacy that Madam C.J. Walker built and the vibrant future we’re shaping together.
Kristian’s passion for preserving and elevating the Walker Center is contagious. She reminded me that this festival is more than an event—it’s a love letter to our community, our resilience, and our brilliance.
