UPDATE: Family Says More About Jasper County Incident

JASPER COUNTY, Ind. — Following a fatal “incident” in Jasper County, the victim’s family is hoping for more information.

Jasper County Sheriff Patrick Williamson recently explained that officers were called to help medics care for Rhyker Earl on September 8th. He eventually became unresponsive and later died at the hospital.

Now, Earl’s grandmother says she called police because her grandson had been experiencing seizures, as he had epilepsy.

But, her family believes that, instead of getting him the help he needed, officers contributed to his death by preventing him from breathing properly.

Attorney Benjamin Crump claims that law enforcement officials handcuffed Earl and pinned him to the floor. But, while Williamson notes they did handcuff the man, he argues that they did not hinder his breathing.

Crump is asking police to release the body cam video of the incident. The sheriff believes fictitious claims about this case are intended to help Earl’s family benefit in court and sway the community’s belief.
