The FDA is going to require manufacturers of certain sleep aids to put strongly worded warnings on boxes and patient guides. Ambien, Lunesta and Sonata were among the products mentioned by the agency as potentially dangerous to users. That’s because people who take them can experience impairment of mental alertness the morning after use, even if they feel fully awake. They say that warnings will have to list potential side effects like sleep driving and other risky activities that could lead to injury or death.
