Organizations that help to fight crime and violence on the ground of communities here in the city are getting new support. The Indianapolis Ten Point Coalition is thanking the Indianapolis City-County Council for making more resources available to do that work this summer. The resources are in the form of $400,000 to groups who patrol the streets. Reverend Charles Ellis of the Ten Point says they are especially excited that these funds will aid groups involved in street patrols and conflict mediation of high risk audiences.

We’ve learned more about the incident against two women found in a Boone County barn. They may have been targeted.  Police say 76-year-old Helen Fix and her 41-year-old caregiver were on their daily walk Friday evening when they were approached by a man wearing a ski mask.  Investigators say the caretaker was strangled with a rope and beat over the head before being sexually assaulted. Fix wasn’t injured. The two women were found by another care taker, who had arrived for a shift change.

Hamilton County police are searching for at least a dozen people there who are accused of fleeing the county’s work release program.  Each of them is now wanted for failure to return to lawful detention… in some cases, some of them are wanted for several other warrants. Pictures and names of the wanted can be found on the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.  A spokesman told The Indianapolis Star tracking down someone who violates their work release can be difficult because of the mobile society we live in.

No autopsy will be performed on the body of Chuck Berry. The 90-year-old rock-and-roll legend died Saturday at his home near St. Louis. His doctor told TMZ that Berry died of natural causes and that an autopsy will not be performed. Also, while Berry may no longer be with us, he not only left behind tons of music for future generations he also passed some along for possible alien races.  Berry’s 1958 song “Johnny B.
