Seriously?

One of the European passengers held hostage by the EgyptAir hijacker decided to take a photo with the criminal.

EgyptAir flight MS181 was hijacked by a man named Seif Eldin Mustafa, who was wearing a fake explosive belt. The plane was initially en route to Cairo, but Mustafa decided to redirect it to Cyprus so he could give a letter to his ex-wife, who resides in the country. That’s when Ben Innes thought it was a good idea to get a picture with him.

I’m not sure why I did it, I just threw caution to the wind while trying to stay cheerful in the face of adversity. I figured if his bomb was real I’d nothing to lose anyway, so took a chance to get a closer look at it..I got one of the cabin crew to translate for me and asked him if I could do a selfie with him. He just shrugged OK, so I stood by him and smiled for the camera while a stewardess did the snap. It has to be the best selfie ever,” he told The Sun.

Innes is believed to be one of the last passengers to exit the plane. Soon after, Mustafa surrendered to law enforcement.

According to The Guardian, Egyptian officials said he’s “not a terrorist,” instead deeming him “an idiot.”
