It’s wet and a little snowy this morning so be cautious as you make your morning commute. Indy Snow Force was activated Sunday night to combat icy patches caused by a mixture of rain and snow.  The Department of Public Works says drivers should leave plenty of time to reach their destination during the morning rush and throughout the day.

They’re celebrating in Denver, and yes some right here in Indy too, after the Broncos’ defense dominated the Carolina Panthers for a 24-10 win in Super Bowl 50 Sunday night.  This is Peyton Manning’s second Super Bowl title, the first of which he earned in 2006 as the quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts, under the leadership of head-coach Tony Dungy. Manning, who turns 40 next month is expected to retire, however fans are all awaiting official word on that announcement. Manning says he’ll take his time with the decision.

A former Park Tudor coach accused of sending inappropriate messages and photos to a 15-year-old student at the school, and carrying on an inappropriate relationship, is due back in federal court this afternoon. Kyle Cox was arrested by federal authorities last Thursday. Monday’s court appearance for Cox is a detention-related hearing where the judge will decide if he has to remain in federal custody where he’s been, until his trial. Court time is at 3 p.m. Eastern.

An Indianapolis Metro Police Department officer involved in a crash on the city’s south side is okay.  A spokesman says the accident happened Sunday afternoon on South East Street. The officer was off-duty at the time. Police say the investigation is ongoing, but they believe another vehicle may have failed to yield to the officer’s car, causing the accident.

Circle Centre Mall is adding a new entrance along Georgia Street. It will be located between Meridian and Illinois streets, and is expected to open by mid-summer. The president of Downtown Indy called the project “incredibly welcomed news.”

If you like to dine at Chipotle, you’ll be impacted at the start of the work week because the fast food chain will push back today’s opening hours at all its restaurants, including here in Indy, so all employees can attend a meeting on food safety. Company officials will spend some of the time thanking their workers for dealing with recent incidents of food-borne illnesses that hit customers in the Boston area and nine states. Last week the CDC declared the illness outbreaks to be over.

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder will not be in front of a U.S. House committee this week. He has declined an invitation to testify about the Flint water crisis because he’s due to deliver his budget recommendation to the state Legislature the same day. Snyder’s spokesman says the budget will include several recommendations to address the Flint crisis.

Driving keeps getting less expensive. Gas prices fell more than eight cents in the past two weeks. The latest Lundberg survey, released Sunday, puts the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded at $1.82. That’s the lowest level in seven years and 37 cents cheaper than this time last year.  The average price for gas in Indy was $1.44 on Monday morning, according to gasbuddy.com. Apparently, the Super Bowl is a real productivity-killer. A number of employment groups say more than one and-a-half million people will call in sick today, and millions more will show up late. Workplace collaboration experts say bosses who want to get some work out of the people who straggle in because they Super Bowl-partied too hard last night watching the Broncos defense overtake the Carolina Panthers, might consider providing breakfast or something else to encourage their workers to get to know each other.  The experts say that can lead to higher productivity in the future.

Super Bowl MVP Vonn Miller and his Broncos teammates made life miserable for league MVP Cam Newton, sacking the Panthers quarterback seven times during Super Bowl 50.  Visibly upset by the loss, Newton bailed on a post-game press conference, however before he did, Newton told reporters after the game, “They made more plays than us and that’s what it comes down to.”

Former Colts head coach Tony Dungy and wide receiver Marvin Harrison were both inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame during Super Bowl weekend festivities. Dungy coached the Colts to a Super Bowl title in 2006, becoming the first African-American head coach to do so. Marvin Harrison was chosen for eight Pro Bowls in his 13-year-career, all with the Colts. Colts owner Jim Irsay weighed in, saying he’s “elated” at the news and called it “tremendous for the horseshoe” that the two men are in the 2016 class.

Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers are in town to go to battle with Paul George and the Pacers tonight downtown at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Pacers sit at 27-and-24 and are coming off a 112-104 victory over the Pistons Saturday. Also on-tap for the Pacers this week are the Hornets. They’ll take them on before the All-Star Break. Tip tonight against the Lakers is at 7 p.m. Eastern.

Some Folks watch the Super Bowl, not because they’re football fans but because they really dig the creative ads. The big winner of last night, according to “USA Today’s” annual Ad Meter poll, was the Kevin Heart-helmed Hyundai Genesis ad, where he was a frighteningly over-protective dad who used the car finder tracking feature to keep tabs on his teenaged daughter during a date. But a Franklin College grad and his team were the winners of the Doritos ‘Crash the Superbowl’ contest scooping up a million dollars for the Doritos Dogs spot. They were stray pooches who just wanted to get into the store to get their favorite snack. Congrats to Travis Braun. See some of the spots below:
