Dr. Darlene Powell Garlington is a licensed clinical psychologist, certified school psychologist, and media psychologist. She is a renowned author of ten books published by Simon & Schuster, William Morrow, John Wiley and self-published.

Her book’s focus primarily on building resiliency, parenting, family dynamics, multiculturalism, co-parenting, male-female relationships and diversity. Her educational  background includes a Master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Psychology from Adelphi University in Garden City, NY, a second Master’s and a Ph.D. in Clinical School Psychology from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.

Dr. Darlene has been in private practice for more than 25 years, treating post-traumatic stress disorder, vicarious PTSD, depression, suicidality and anxiety disorders.  She is also recognized as a clinical expert in the reintegration of military personnel back into family and community, as well as helping the family with deployment cycle adjustments.

Dr. Darlene is an expert consultant on television talk shows, including Good Morning America, 20/20, Anderson Cooper and numerous others. She was also employed as an associate professor at Hampton University, as well as an adjunct professor at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.

She has also worked with Mattel Toys as a Consultant advising on the development and promotion of  positive play products; was a Consultant with Nickelodeon Television Network and participated on the advisory board of Child magazine.
