Indiana’s First Church of Cannabis plans to hold its first pot-smoking worship service on the day that Indiana’s religious freedom law takes effect. Bill Levin, who founded the church after Indiana’s controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act was signed into law by Governor Mike Pence, said Tuesday the service on July 1 will include the playing of “Amazing Grace,” a brief sermon, and member testimonies before a call to worship that will fill the sanctuary with smoke. The service is expected to be a bold test of RFRA. No one knows yet whether local and state law enforcement will accept the church’s claims that the law protects its worship service.  The law bans government actions that burden the exercise of religion.
