After being hospitalized last week to receive treatment for diabetes, Mumia Abu-Jamal has returned to prison. The 60-year-old, who was convicted of killing a cop in Philadelphia 34 years ago, spent two days in the ICU after passing out. He returned to the State Correctional Institution-Mahanoy on Wednesday. Although he was well enough to return to prison, his family members are worried about his health. “He’s not well,” said Johanna Fernandez, one of his supporters. “His spirit is high, but he told us that he couldn’t get up yesterday. He’s lost 80 pounds since I last saw him three months ago.” Read more.

Kylie Jenner had the internet up in arms this weekend, and this time it had nothing to do with her relationship with rapper Tyga. The 17-year-old posted images from her latest photoshoot, in which it appeared she was wearing blackface. She posted the image on Instagram on Saturday night, but took it down after she received backlash from people on social media. In an attempt to justify the images, she posted two more photographs from the shoot. One of the captions read, “This is a black light and neon lights people lets all calm down.” Read more.
Non-Citizens in NYC May Get The Right To Vote
More than a million New York City residents who aren’t officially U.S. citizens might get the opportunity to vote in the city’s local elections. The city is working on implementing a new law that would let legally documented non-citizens cast their vote in municipal elections. The proposal was introduced in 2013 and might possibly come to fruition this spring. There are 1.3 million non-citizens in New York who are documented immigrants. Nearly one million of those people are of the voting age. Read more.
