Walmart 2014 Shareholders' Meeting

Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke are blasting the family of Marvin Gaye for attempting to delay the trial over whether “Blurred Lines” is a copy of Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up.” Court documents obtained by “The Hollywood Reporter” show that Pharrell and Robin’s camps say Gaye’s family is “desperate to avoid trial.” The family is appealing a ruling declaring that a recording of “Got To Give It Up” cannot be played in court because the family only owns the copyright to the song’s sheet music. Pharrell and Robin’s team also says there’s no basis for the appeal. They point out that any musical elements featured in the recording that aren’t included in the sheet music fall outside the scope of the copyright.
What’s your opinion? Do you think the Pharrell and Robin’s team are in the right or does it seem the Gaye family is trying to cash in?
