Dr. Dre has come a long way….He’s not only the highest paid hip-hop artist over the past year, “Forbes” says he might just be the highest paid musician it’s evaluated – ever. That’s hip-hop doc Dr. Dre coming in at number one on “Forbes'” 2014 “Hip-Hop Cash Kings” list. With an estimated 620-million-dollars in pre-tax earnings, the veteran rapper and record producer logs what “Forbes” says is the highest 12 month earnings total for a musician in any genre and more than the combined earnings of the other 24 names on its new list. Much of Dre’s earnings came through the recent three-billion-dollar sale of his Beats headphone company to Apple and other ventures in the liquor branding industry.

The hip-hop vet far out-earned his closest competitors on the “Forbes” list – Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay Z – who tied for second place with 60-million-dollars in earnings between June 2013 and June 2014. Fourth on the list is Canadian hip-hop star Drake who earned an estimated 33-million-dollars over the same time frame. Grammy winning duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis round out the top five with 32-million-dollars in earnings.
