BREAKING: Murder-Suicide Monday Morning
Local media is reporting a murder suicide in the 3100 block of North Gale. Police dispatchers say the call came in the late 6 a.m. hour Monday morning. Police are also confirming that two children—a 6 year old and an 11 year old were in the home at the time of this shooting. Apparently the children heard their parents arguing and heard the gunshots. The older child called 9-1-1. Homicide detectives are on the scene investigating why two people are now dead. This is a developing story.
Deadliest Year In Marion County Since 2006
Homicides in Marion County are at a seven-year high. A series of weekend deaths upped the city’s total number of murders this year to 116, the most since 2006 when there were 140. According to the “Indianapolis Star,” this violent weekend also snapped a four-year streak in which Indy’s murders were below 100.
Faith Group Concerned Over Homicides
An anti-violence group is worried over this latest string of homicides. Pastor Charles Ellis with the Ten Point Coalition said, “It’s senseless killing and it has to stop.” Lines of caution tape, flashing lights, and police are a new trend that Ellis hopes will not become commonplace in Indianapolis. Including an early Monday morning murder-suicide 12 people have died from gunfire in the last 22 days.
Hoosier Bridegroom Dead After Good Deed
A good Samaritan near Crown Pointe is dead just hours after getting married. William Knight and his new bride were driving home from their reception when they saw a woman’s car had slid off the road. Knight got out to help but while the woman was walking up the embankment, a car hit both of them and two trailing cars ran them over. Knight’s bride witnessed the entire incident.
Gunshot That Injured Little Kid Fired Inside House
Investigators say the gunshot that hit a three-year-old boy in the arm came from inside the house. This is contrary to what IMPD investigators were originally told. Evidence did not support the story that the child was injured while answering a knock at the door. The little boy was shot last Thursday and was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in good condition.
State Files Appeal After FEMA Rejection
Business owners and residents are being denied disaster assistance from FEMA. More than a thousand homes in Kokomo were damaged or destroyed by tornadoes in November. FEMA’s rejection of help spurred an appeal from Governor Mike Pence. Damage assessments by the state Homeland Security Department begin today.
Aurora Police Chief In Jail
Aurora Police Chief Bryan Fields is sitting in one of his jail cells. He is accused of a domestic confrontation that put his wife in Dearborn County Hospital. Holly Fields was admitted yesterday after officers responded to their house on Harrison Avenue. Bryan was booked for domestic battery.
U.S. Postal Service in Holiday Overdrive Today
Monday is expected to be the busiest mailing day of the year. Postal officials expect to handle at least 600 million pieces of mail. Wednesday is expected to be the busiest delivery day.
Holiday Shopping Turns Deadly
A holiday shopping trip turned into a nightmare for one couple. The husband was shot and killed when they were carjacked at a New Jersey mall. It happened late Sunday night outside the Short Hills Mall.

Robert Mathis Breaks Sacks Records
The Colts are celebrating their win over the Texans. They beat Houston in what appeared to be a colossal Texas-sized melt down Sunday night 25-to-3. Mathis’ third quarter sack gave him a Colts season record of 16-and-a-half sacks and a franchise record of 108 sacks, breaking marks previously held by Dwight Freeney.
