Fast-food workers across the country are striking for better wages, and Indianapolis workers are joining the protest.

100 cities joined the nationwide protest today (Dec 5), including Boston, Chicago, Denver, Hartford, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Oakland, Raleigh and Tampa.

Workers targeted major chains like McDonald’s and Burger King among others. Protesters are fighting for the right to form unions and make $15 an hour and.

According to organizers, the Indianapolis metro area has nearly 23,820 fast-food workers with a median wage of $8.69 an hour. An MIT professor estimated that an adult with one child needed to make $17.81 an hour to afford the basics if they lived in the Indianapolis area.

Protests in Indianapolis were held at two locations:

  • 11:00 – 11:30 a.m., McDonald’s, 3745 N. Post Rd.
  • 12:30 – 1:00 p.m., McDonald’s, 1611 N Meridian St.
