President Obama To Speak On Healthcare Website Relaunch

The White House will push the Affordable Care Act again today. President Obama will try to sell Americans on the relaunch of the much maligned healthcare website. A White House official says the President will talk about the ongoing efforts to improve the website. His remarks will be made at 2:30 p.m., Eastern time. Obama will also focus attention back on “the core principles of reform that have been lost in the attention on the website.

Trains Removed From Derailment Site

An update on the deadly train derailment in New York—the eight commuter train cars that derailed on Sunday, killing four people, have been moved to a storage yard. Work is already underway to rebuild the damaged tracks which should help speed a slowed commute from weeks to days. Test trains will have to run and if all goes well, passenger trains could be rolling through the area again by the end of the week. Excessive speed is emerging as a factor in the crash.

Judge Rules Today on Detroit Bankruptcy

Detroit will soon find out whether it will be allowed to file for bankruptcy. A judge overseeing the city’s bankruptcy case is scheduled to rule Tuesday morning on whether the city can file for protection from its creditors. If U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Steven Rhodes rules Detroit is eligible for bankruptcy, the city will then work toward submitting a plan to readjust its more than 18 billion dollars in debt. The judge’s decision could affect city residents’ pensions and healthcare, and city services.

Home Invasion Suspect Says He’s Not A Monster

The eleventh suspect arrested in connection with two violent home invasions on the city’s north side says he did it for the money. On Monday, Adrian Anthony admitted his involvement, but denied having any role in the sexual assaults of the mother and daughter. The 20-year-old also denied being a monster and said he used manners while robbing the victims. On the same day as the admissions, Anthony was charged with murder for the shooting death of a man on North Gray Street on November 27th.

Spierer Lawsuit Dropped Against One

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against one of the three men who were with missing Indiana University co-ed Lauren Spierer the night she disappeared. On Monday, the judge said Michael Beth provided no alcohol to Spierer and after finding her on his couch, walked her down the hall to a party in hopes of finding someone who could give her a ride home. Spierer’s parents say the men didn’t do enough to make sure their 20-year-old daughter got home safely after a night of drinking.

I-69 Restrictions In Hamilton County End

Your Tuesday morning commute on I-69 could be a little quicker. All five lanes between 96th and 116th streets are now open. INDOT says the extra lane will improve traffic flow.

Police Use GPS To Locate Stolen Cars

Police are using high-tech systems to find stolen cars in Indianapolis. Officers use GPS to quickly solve many cases. Officer Chris Wilburn said they are also getting lots of help from iPhones by downloading an app.

Pacers’ Winning Streak Ends

The Pacers’ winning streak is over. The ‘Blue and Gold’ lost to the Portland Trail Blazers Monday night 106-to-102. The Pacers are now 16-and-2, their best start in franchise history. They play Utah Wednesday night.
