Happy Birthday to former Indiana Pacer and Philadelphia 76er George McGinnis who played in the ABA and NBA from 1971-82. In 1976 he teamed up with fellow ABA Alumni Julius Erving and Cladwell Jones to lead the 76ers to the ’77 Finals where they lost in six games to the Portland Trailblazers.

McGinnis attended Washington High School in Indianapolis where his 1969 team won the state title with an undefeated record and is considered one of the greatest teams ever in the state of Indiana.

His jersey is one of four players to have his #30 retired by the Indiana Pacers.(the others are Roger Brown, Mel Daniels and Reggie Miller)
