The time to say goodbye to America’s reality family might be nearing: “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” is reportedly ending soon.
Rob Shuter, also known as Naughty But Nice Rob, reported “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” could end for good in 2015. Last April, the Karadshians inked a $40 million deal with E! for three more seasons of the reality series. After that, two of the family’s major figures allegedly want the curtain to fall.
“It has been the biggest reality franchise of all-time. Both Kim and Kris want to make sure they end on a high note, leaving fans wanting more, rather than try and stretch the show on for another few seasons and watch it die a death,” a so-called family insider told Shuter. “Plus, they are now moving on in their lives. Exploring new options and opportunities. Kim wants to be with her daughter and Kanye, while Kris wants to focus on being a talk show host and maybe start producing movies. She’s telling everyone that one day she will have an Oscar.”
E! did not immediately reply to The Huffington Post’s request for comment.
From fashion lines, self-tanners and socks to daytime talk shows, modeling gigs and babies at home, the Kardashians certainly have their plates full.
Kim Kardashian has shied away from the cameras since giving birth to her first child with beau Kanye West, baby North, on June 15. Back in February, she told DuJour Magazine she has learned a lot about privacy from West and is “shifting [her] priorities.” Many took this as a signal of an upcoming exit from the E! series.
She later clarified her comments in a blog post saying she is committed to staying on through at least Season 10. As for what will happen after that, the 32-year-old isn’t so sure.
“I’m looking forward to the new season and beyond,” she wrote on her Celebuzz blog. “The fact is that I have many goals that I still need to reach and accomplish and I (like so many of you) don’t know where my life will be in the next couple of years, but I’m looking forward to continuing this journey.”
And if Kris Jenner’s namesake show – which is currently in the process of a six-week test run on select Fox stations — is picked up for syndicated launch in 2014, that might leave little time for filming anything else.
