While it has been months since the tragic loss of her brother, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson says she feels almost selfish for pressing forward with her life and music career.

Speaking with Gotham magazine, which she covers this month, Jackson admits it has been hard to come to terms with his death.

“When you hear people say life goes on, it’s really the truth,” says Jackson. “You can’t stop living. It becomes a part of you. I feel a bit selfish because there are times I feel I shouldn’t be doing this, but I enjoy my work and I have to keep doing it. I have to keep my life going. There are days that are harder than others.”

Jackson is presently at work on a new album, slated for release this year. She also stars in the forthcoming Tyler Perry helmed flick ‘Why Did I Get Married Too”.
