TikTok Tatoos: Trends Keep Getting More Ridiculous

Apparently, just getting a tattoo isn’t edgy enough anymore, now people are literally freeze-branding themselves. Like cattle.
Yep, TikTok has given us another trend no one asked for: using super-cooled metal rods to burn designs into your skin with liquid nitrogen.
Doctors are not fans (shocker). Dermatologist Dr. Andrea Suarez took to TikTok to remind everyone that skin branding isn’t something to DIY at home.
She says it causes full-thickness burns (the kind that take forever to heal), and can lead to infections, sepsis, and even bone damage. You know, the kind of stuff they don’t show in the viral videos.
And freeze-branding isn’t the only wild trend making dermatologists twitch. People are also using Sharpies as lip liner (please don’t), and hemorrhoid cream to shrink under-eye bags.
That last one might work temporarily, but it can also raise your eye pressure, and not in the “bright-eyed and bushy-tailed” kind of way.
Look, we’ve all fallen down the rabbit hole of a weird beauty hack or two. But when we start pulling tricks from farm equipment manuals and medical supply closets, maybe it’s time to pump the brakes.
If you want body art, maybe stick with the kind that doesn’t require safety goggles and a fire extinguisher. Your skin isn’t a science experiment, and definitely not a branding target.
Leave the freeze tools to the ranchers.
