JENNINGS COUNTY, Ind.-A 30-year-old North Vernon man was arrested on murder and other related charges on Sunday.

State Police say they arrested Connor Montgomery at a home because they believe he shot and killed his father, Robert Montgomery, outside the home.

They think there was a fight that led up to that with a woman and two kids that were there at the time. Connor is also accused of pointing a gun at the woman and firing it inside the house prior to Robert’s death.

Police say Robert Montgomery was called to the scene before law enforcement was notified about the disturbance. He was shot a short time after arriving.

Robert was 53 years old. Connor was taken to the Jennings County Jail.

Not only is Connor Montgomery charged with murder, he’s also facing charges of criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, domestic battery (in the presence of minors), neglect of a dependent, and pointing a firearm.
