This keeps getting confusing….

The 39-year-old singer announced on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that she just received her GED and is now eying a Bachelors degree as part of HU’s class of 2014.

“The city of New York gave me my high school diploma … and now Howard University has accepted me,” she stated.

So far – no word on her major or how she’ll attend classes.

Watch her announcement below.  Although I feel she could have went to Hampton (my Alma Mater) but I will let that go!! LOL!

now we also have this report…

Mary J. Blige Going To Howard University? Blige Not Enrolling – Mary J. Blige recently announced that she will be going to college at Howard University.

The statement was made in an interview with the New Orleans Time-Picayune. She had appeared in the newspaper to promote the release of her new perfume, and offered up a little insight regarding her future plans.

“For the record, I just received my high school diploma yesterday. The city of New York gave me my high school diploma and now Howard University has accepted me,” Blige said in the Interview.

The remark was followed up by a contradictory comment by Howard University. A rep for the school declined to address the situation, saying that application information is confidential. Later in the day, the university put out a statement, saying that Blige’s comments were “premature.”

“We encourage Ms. Blige to continue her studies and welcome her consideration of Howard University in the future. We are happy to work with Ms. Blige on completing the formal process for admission,” the school said in a statement.

It is strange that Blige would make a statement like that without having first been accepted to the school. The Washington Post also claimed that Blige made a number of comments during her appearance on “Good Morning America,” claiming that she had been accepted to Howard. There was reportedly video evidence of her making the claim, but the video has since been removed.

Update : Blige’s rep just released the following statement on this confusing situation, it read “Howard University came to her and expressed interest in having her as a student but she will not be attending.”

So I am confused??
