*Janet Jackson strikes a pose for Essence’s August 2010 cover, looking much like she did in her “All for You” period a decade ago.

The magazine cover donning the superstar hits newsstands right in time for the Essence Music Festival taking place this Fourth of July weekend, in which she will be headlining to a sold-out crowd in New Orleans.

In the interview, she talks about loving life, discovering her newly awakened confidence, and her blossoming acting career. From the Essence press release she explains:

“It took me a good minute to get here, it really did. But I love my life. I only wish I had this confidence when I was younger.”

With her success following Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married Too?” she is putting music aside to dabble in more acting opportunities. These include another stint in Tyler Perry’s new project, “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf,” and a directing gig. She is directing a romantic drama, and has cast CSI: Miami star Adam Rodriguez as the leading man.
