During Season 7 of Basketball Wives, which aired last year, Tami Roman had disagreements with a few women on the show that at times, evolved into ugly arguments (involving the spilling of very personal and painful information) and near physical confrontations. By the end of that season, the 48-year-old star was tired of the drama, and told fans that she was done.

But as it turns out, she isn’t finished with the show after all. Shaunie O’Neal said on social media recently that Roman would be back, and The Bonnet Chronicles star confirmed her return for Season 8 with The Shaderoom.

“Well you know, sometimes contracts hold you to certain situations,” she said on the red carpet at the NAACP Image Awards over the weekend. “And I actually love filming Basketball Wives. I just had to make sure it was an environment I would feel comfortable in. And so they kind of promised me that, and so, contractually, I’m back!

She said that they’ve been filming the new season for a while now, and so far, “I’m comfortable.”

“I don’t want to give away too much,” she added. “This season will be shot differently than anything people have seen in the past.”

In case you forgot, Roman said back in January that in order to return to the show, she would need to make sure her energy was being protected.

“I’m just at a place right now where it’s about protecting my energy and my space and my zen. I have to protect it,” she said to Entertainment Tonight. “And so, even within the Basketball Wives world, if I were to go back, certain changes would have to be made for me to be comfortable in that environment. But we’re still in talks. I don’t necessarily know if I’ll return, but we are talking about how everybody can be comfortable in that environment.”

Part of that self-care protection was dependent on if she would have to film and interact with rival Evelyn Lozada.

“I typically don’t speak about Evelyn in any of my interviews, but I’m doing this for you,” she said in that same interview. “We didn’t speak before taping, we typically don’t speak after, and I think both of us just owe ourselves a greater service of me not coming into her space and her not coming into mine. Just respecting boundaries.”

Should be a mess, but entertaining per the usual, when Basketball Wives returns later this year.
