Dodgers pitching great Don Newcombe has died at the age of 92 after
a lengthy illness. A four-time All-Star and three-time 20-game
winner, Newcombe was one of the first black players in the majors
and won the 1949 Rookie of the Year Award, as well as the Cy Young
and MVP in 1956. He spent eight of his 10 big league seasons with
the Dodgers franchise, helping it win its first World Series in
1955.
