What She Does: Since moving on from music Hendryx as started a program called SisteSMATR.

Why She Made Our List: Her program is dedicated to getting young women involved in and excited about STEM careers. SisterSMATR is a 10 week program, the girls meet for 2 hours a day after school and follow their main area of interest, light, sound, or robotics. Who He Is: Best known as the Black Panther

What He Does:  Actor

Where He’s From:  Anderson, South Carolina

Why He Made Our List: He has played real-life historical figures like, Jackie Robinson in 42, James Brown in Get on Up and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall. Who She Is:  The owner of a food truck and restaurant both called The Slutty Vegan  

What She Does:  Teaches about the benefits of a plant based lifestyle

Why She Made Our List:  Cole owned a restaurant in Harlem in 2014 and was doing great until it burned down. After that she began working as a casting director on Iyannla Fix My Life. But, she was a hungry vegan and missed working in the kitchen. So she came up with the idea for a food truck and named it The Slutty Vegan as a way to get people’s attention. It worked! Why She Made Our List: She has starred in a number of films and TV shows including The Boondocks, Southland and Friday. Who She Is:  Journalist and author

What She Does:  She has served as a White House correspondent since 1997 and is the Washington, D.C., bureau chief for American Urban Radio Networks. In 2017, she joined CNN as a political analyst.

Where She’s From:  Baltimore, Maryland

Why She Made Our List: As one of the few African Americans in the White House press corps, Ryan frequently asks questions on issues concerning minorities and has a reputation for asking hard hitting questions. In 2018 she released a book called Under Fire: Reporting From The Front Lines of the Trump White House, where she talks about how she’s been under attack by people in the Trump Administration and issues like HBCUs and how the White House handles Black issues.

22. Tiffany and pastor Dimas Salaberrios

Who They Are:  Pastor and First Lady of Infinity Bible Church

What They Do:  They call themselves spiritual first responders and their goal is to bring peace to some of America’s most deadly neighborhoods

Where They’re From:  New York City, New York

Why They Made Our List: Before he became a pastor, Salaberrios was a drug dealer. He and his wife minister to people the same way 3 women ministered to him years ago. They ask people the same question that he was asked, “can I pray for you?” They go into neighborhoods plagued by violence and begin talking to and praying for, gang members, drug dealers and murderers hoping to bring about change through sharing the love of Christ.

22. Dave Chappelle

Who He Is:  Stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer

Where He’s From:  Washington, D.C

Why He Made Our List:. Chappelle became widely known for his sketch comedy television series, Chappelle’s Show in 2003.  After leaving the show, Chappelle returned to performing stand-up comedy and by 2006, he was called the “comic genius of America” by Esquire. In 2013 he was called “the best” by Billboard. Chappelle received his first Emmy Award in 2017 for his guest appearance on Saturday Night Live. Who She Is:  Journalist and radio personality

What She Does: Co-host of the NBC New York affiliate show called “New York Live”

Where She’s From:  Atlanta, Georgia

Why She Made Our List: Reid is a TV host, journalist and radio personality. In addition to her role on New York Live, she hosts a weekly segment on the Tom Joyner Morning show called Inside Her Story where she highlights phenomenal women and also has tough discussions about women’s issues.
