With the Holiday season shopping upon us, Gap plans to close hundreds of stores.  The clothing retailer’s CEO told analysts that they will get smaller after the company reported flat same-store sales and a decline of seven percent in its flagship Gap brand.  Gap has already gone from 11-hundred locations down to 775 worldwide today.  CEO Art Peck said there are hundreds of other stores that don’t fit their vision of the future.  The company has not said which locations will be closing.  Gap’s other brands, Old Navy, Banana Republic and Athleta, had stronger results last quarter.  Peck said one of the problems is Gap remained in old malls that are in decline too long.
