New mothers are being encouraged to think twice before drinking.  A study published  in the journal Pediatrics says children who are exposed to alcohol through breast milk may experience a drop in their cognitive abilities.  Researchers at the University of Australia followed the development of more than five-thousand infants since 2004.  The researchers found an increased consumption of alcohol aligned with lower nonverbal reasoning in children who were breastfed by the time they were six and seven years old.  The good news is they discovered when those children were ten and eleven years old they did not notice the lower cognitive ability.
